David has recently begun working with glass and has incorporated his own handmade glass beads into the jewellery range.
The glass flame work involves 1200c degree flame and beautiful glass which is melted and formed into tubular beads then coated in 24ct gold leaf or wrapped in 22ct and or 24ct gold wire. Once the wire and leaf have adhered to the tube another layer of glass is then melted over the top to encase the gold in a clear glass shell. Continuing along with Dave’s personal style, individual nuances or character marks which crop up naturally within the process are left within the bead to ensure a unique character in each. No two are ever the quite the same, which allows an organic element to the creation of the glass work as David allows within the development of his paintings also.
The incorporation of this wonderful new glasswork adds a purely organic element to the jewellery creations and a very individual and precious addition to the pieces. David is very excited to be expanding his medium yet again and loves that process is fascinating, using extreme heat, precious metals and fragile but strong glass to sculpt with.
Just running these tactile treasures through your fingers is a joy in itself, but add to that the beads are raw and beautiful and distinctly David and you have yourself quite an exquisite combination.
